The company was founded by [[Gray Jones|Mayor Gray Jones]] in 1996. It was initially launched as a pet project for Mayor Gray, but since Rotborough lacked a pizza restaurant it quickly became a success. It first opened its doors in March of 1996.

In May 1999, an incident involving an unnamed employee reportedly led to the introduction of the company’s signature singing and dancing delivery service. According to local accounts, the employee had been involved in a dispute and was compelled by Mayor Gray Jones to make a delivery while singing and dancing, as a form of disciplinary action. Contrary to its intended purpose, the performance was well received by the customer, who later visited the store to express enthusiastic praise.
